Keys to Living not only combines devotional and inspirational features, but it highlights God’s natural world. Each
issue focuses on a specific theme such as Love, Patience, Anxiety, Hospitality, Creation, and Time Management.
There are at least two pages devoted to nature; the most popular among readers is "Nature’s Notebook" which chronicles nature adventures of the editor’s granddaughter as she investigates the world of nature.
Two pages include a fun Bible and Nature Activity for children and those young at heart. Activities include word scrambles, matching, true/false, fill in the blank and other creative methods to teach them about God’s word and nature.
Keys to Living highlights a favorite hymn of the church matching the theme in each issue sharing the author’s background and how God inspired the writing.
Throughout the publication’s 12 pages are beautiful nature photographs by staff photographer, Richard Hess. These photos bring out the beauty of creation - from vistas ablaze with oranges and yellows, to a brilliant red cardinal perched on a snow-covered pine branch, to spring’s array of purple blue violets, and golden dandelions, to the the monarch butterfly atop thistles and bee balm. Common things we see in our backyard that inspire us.
